Sadly, this OVA is another one about the supposed pretentious male romance, where one racer "rebels against the customs" and starts chasing another one to the end of the earth "because their score is not settled yet, _buy the manga to find out how it ends_." The closest example is Bari Bari Densetsu, but I'm sure more offender shows could be found. If you've seen one, you've seen them all. The OVA adapts volume 7 of the source manga, with bits from previous volumes, although the writing is quite different, so take it with a grain of salt. Whoever was doing the audio mastering on this show must've been deaf, otherwise it's a mystery to me how one comes up with such bright idea as drowning out all the announcer's lines in the deafening roar of the engines, as if those weren't already hard to hear due to reverb... and then also changing ALL the announcer's lines from the manga to rule the fuck out any possibility of me reconstructing it! I just hope that person's pillow is always hot on both sides. Anyway, most of the race announcer's lines here were left untranslated because I just couldn't take it anymore after the first two, and this felt more honest than just straight up making them up—blame that person.
