Getting started
What is YourBittorrent?
YourBittorrent is a torrent search engine and index. We don't host any files ourselves — we help you find .torrent files and magnet links, which your BitTorrent client then uses to download content from other people sharing it.
What is a torrent and a magnet link?
A torrent is a small file that describes a larger set of files and where to find the people sharing them. A magnet link does the same job without a file — it's just a link your client can open directly. Neither contains the actual content; they're maps that tell your client how to assemble it from other peers.
How do I download a torrent?
You'll need a BitTorrent client installed first — see our
recommended clients. Once you have one, open a
.torrent file or click a magnet link and it will hand off to your client automatically, which then downloads the content piece by piece.
Safety & quality
What does the "Verified" badge mean?
A Verified badge means our team (or a trusted uploader) has checked the torrent and confirmed it's genuine and free of obvious malware. Verified torrents are the safest bet, but you should still use common sense with anything you download.
What are seeders and leechers?
Seeders are people who have the complete file and are sharing it. Leechers (peers) are still downloading. More seeders generally means faster, more reliable downloads — the little health bar on each torrent reflects this at a glance.
Is it safe to download from here?
Stick to verified torrents where possible, prefer ones with plenty of seeders, read any comments, and keep your BitTorrent client and antivirus up to date. We index links but can't guarantee the contents of every file, so use your judgement.
Why is my download slow?
Almost always because a torrent has few (or zero) seeders. A file nobody is sharing can't download. Try a version of the same content with a higher seeder count, or come back later when more people are online.
Accounts & uploading
Do I need an account?
No — browsing and downloading work without one. An account is free and adds perks like an ad-free experience, access to verified-only search, advanced search, and the ability to upload.
Sign up if you'd like those.
How do I upload a torrent?
Head to the
upload page, give your torrent a clear name, pick a category, and submit your
.torrent file. Please only upload content you're allowed to share, keep DHT enabled, and don't password-protect it — this is a public site.
Content & legal
Why can't I find a specific torrent?
It may never have been indexed, or it might have been removed. We've also changed servers over the years and lost some older entries. Try different keywords — the same content is often available under a slightly different name.
How do I request removal of content?
If you hold the rights to material listed here, please use our
Legal page to submit a removal request. Don't use the contact form for legal matters — those messages are ignored.
Is torrenting legal?
The BitTorrent protocol itself is perfectly legal and widely used to distribute software, game updates, and public datasets. Whether downloading a specific file is legal depends entirely on the content and the laws where you live. Only download material you have the right to.
