Per il soggetto, Cohen trasse ispirazione da una sua visita al Museo nero di Scotland Yard in cui erano esposti bizzarri oggetti usati da veri assassini: il binocolo con i chiodi, ad esempio, fu realmente usato negli anni '30 da un giovane stalliere per uccidere la propria ragazza.



For the subject, Cohen drew inspiration from a visit to the Black Museum at Scotland Yard, where bizarre objects used by real killers were on display: the binoculars with nails, for example, were actually used in the 1930s by a young stableman to kill his girlfriend.
