It Takes a Village

Rising PNG Rugby League star, Rex, and his wife, Miriam, are expecting their third child on a perfectly normal day in their PNG village. The delivery goes well, but Miriam becomes critically ill with post-delivery complications. Rex must make the long and dangerous trip around the bay to get Miriam the emergency help she needs. However, the health centre doesn't have the equipment or supplies they need and Miriam dies. Rex must travel home with his new, motherless baby. At Mirriam's funeral, he realises that with swifter action, Miriam and many more mothers' lives may have been saved. He makes the remarkable decision to build a health clinic in his own village Rex must overcome the cultural and bureaucratic challenges to provide the health care the mothers of his community and the villages nearby so desperately need.
