Nel 2024, dopo averne cercato le tracce senza successo per tre anni, Gi-hun si rimette in contatto con il Front Man e gli viene concesso di rientrare nel gioco, con lo scopo dichiarato di smascherare il sistema che vi sta dietro. Precedentemente Gi-hun viene avvicinato dal detective Jun-ho, sopravvissuto allo scontro con il fratello, che come lui vuole porre fine al gioco, senza tuttavia rivelare il suo rapporto con il Front Man. Il Front Man, facendo leva sul suo anonimato, entra a far parte del gioco insieme a Gi-hun e lega con quest'ultimo facendo squadra insieme a lui e ad altri giocatori. Dall'esterno, il detective Jun-ho e la squadra di alleati di Gi-hun capitanati dal criminale Cho Woo-seok cercano di localizzare l'isola in cui si sta svolgendo il gioco.
