Earth vs. the Flying Saucers is a 1956 science fiction film directed by Fred F. Sears.



It uses the special effects of Ray Harryhausen, who animated both the aliens and the flying saucers (even the explosions of the buildings) using the stop-one technique.



Produced on a budget and directed by a director who usually worked on western films, Earth Against the Flying Saucers is considered a small classic, a source of inspiration for subsequent films on the theme of alien invasions

Il dottor Russell Marvin lavora in una base militare al progetto "Sky Hook" , che riguarda la messa in orbita di particolari nuovi e rivoluzionari satelliti.



Viene allora effettuata una lunga serie di lanci di missili, il cui esito si rivela però immancabilmente disastroso. Successivamente si scopre che la causa della caduta dei missili va attribuita alla presenza di una gigantesca e misteriosa astronave aliena.
