In the days and weeks after June 6, 1944 Allied soldiers pour into France via the beaches of Normandy, beginning the campaign for Berlin and opening the western front. Their goal was to free Europe from German occupation.

But the operation was not easy - Hitler's troops decided to put up strong resistance - at any cost. After the surprise of the D-Day landings and the initial advances, Nazi forces fall back to dig in to keep an unrelenting grip on naval bases, citadels and fortresses of occupied Europe, planning to drive the Allies back into the North Atlantic and reassert German domination.

Before the Allies stood impregnable cities and fortresses, the fight for each of these obstacles was exhausting and sometimes almost desperate. It will take eleven months of hard fighting and desperate battles to break the Nazi stranglehold to free the rest of Europe. D-Day was a battle, the Allies still need to win the War. The series "Hitler's Last Stand" tells of these bloody battles in which both sides put everything on one card. These are the stories of the hardest fights for victory, even for survival.

After Adolf Hitler's suicide during the final days of World War Two, an American Tank Commander leads a motley mix of German and American soldiers determined to protect French VIP prisoners held in a castle in the Austrian alps from loyal Nazi troops. When their tank is struck and the Waffen SS forces attack, it is not clear they will be able to hold out.
