Dana 5. siječnja 1895. godine mladi kapetan u usponu, Alfred Dreyfus, optužen je za špijuniranje za Njemačku te osuđen na doživotnu robiju koju će provesti u kuli na Vražjem otoku.
Među svjedocima Dreyfusovog poniženja nalazi se i Georges Picquart koji je promoviran kako bi vodio vojnu protuobavještajnu jedinicu koja je Dreyfusa i optužila.
Ali nakon što Picquart otkrije da nakon Dreyfusovog zatvaranja Nijemci i dalje dobivaju tajne podatke, on ulazi u opasni labirint obmana i korupcije koji ne prijeti ugroziti samo njegovu čast, već i vlastiti život…
