Description
Custers Last Man: I Survived Little Big Horn

History Documentary hosted by Harry Chase, published by History Channel in 2011 - English narration

Information

------------------------------

The most iconic battle in American History is looked at from the point of view of a man who may actually have survived the Battle of Little Big Horn. George Armstrong Custer and over 200 of his soldiers were wiped out by Plains Indians on June 25, 1876, but is it possible that one man, alone, lived to tell the tale? How did he survive? Why did he never come forward? And most important of all, is it true? The amazing tale of Frank Finkel is an epic story of struggle, perseverance, and survival and will shed new light on this historic moment.

It remains one of the most iconic moments in American history: George Armstrong Custer and his entire troop of 210 lose their lives at the Battle of Little Big Horn. Or did they? This special highlights new evidence that there may have been a sole survivor whose account of 'Custer's Last Stand' changes our view of that historical day. Who was the female Cheyenne warrior who struck Custer's fatal blow? Why did he leave his ultimate weapons, three Gatlin guns, on the boat that took him West rather than use them at the battle? In CUSTER'S LAST MAN: I SURVIVED LITTLE BIG HORN, HISTORY raises old questions and reveals startling new truths.

New evidence will prove that a soldier named August Finckle was the lone survivor of "Custer's Last Stand, " a battle that is practically synonymous with "no survivors." Forensics on the man's skeleton and his two gunshot wounds will definitely show that the story he reluctantly told the world nearly 50 years after the battle was true. He alone survived, and his tale of what actually went on in the battle will revise our interpretation of the events of the day. This special will also reveal the amazing story of seven others who very nearly survived--who rode for miles away from the carnage only to succumb to their own fear and turn their weapons on themselves.
