Storyline from IMDB:
Aden 1965. This is the story of a British army unit quashing a Yemeni fight for independence
in the Middle East and the women and children who were there with them. Yemen has
since been destroyed as a place to live by bombing from neighbouring Saudi rich from oil wealth
enough to have purchased 100 billion in US warplanes for the task - while Lebanon goes without
food aid from the lottery winner as it were as Saudi and Kuwait turned out to be instead - a decision of the allied forces of the Gulf war as it were. So sad. A million Iraqis killed in the cause as it were.

The Last Post was a fabulous drama. I can't speak for the historically accuracy of the details but the cinematography, the scenery and the overall picture painted were beautiful and rang true to me. The story unfolded very effectively over the six episodes giving a mix of the overall political backdrop with a number of more personal dramas each of which was engaging and interesting.
The acting was a delight. Just about every performance was perfect.
