Easy Girl è un film del 2010 diretto da Will Gluck. La protagonista della vicenda è Olive Penderghast (Emma Stone), un'anonima liceale che sogna di assomigliare alle ragazze più popolari del suo liceo. Un giorno, per sfuggire alla proposta dell'amica Rhiannon (Aly Michalka), che la supplica di accompagnarla in campeggio, Olive inventa una bugia e le dà buca asserendo di avere un appuntamento. Non potendo dire all'amica di aver mentito, trascorrendo il week-end reclusa in casa, Olive inventa molti dettagli sull'appuntamento e dichiara di aver perso la sua verginità con un ragazzo del college. La religiosissima Marianne (Amanda Bynes) ascolta la confidenza di Olive e diffonde il pettegolezzo, ignara del fatto che sia del tutto falso. Marianne decide che Olive sarà la prossima persona che riuscirà a convertire ma la ragazza non gradisce l'idea. Nel bel mezzo di una lezione su 'La Lettera Scarlatta', la fervida cristiana provoca la reazione della compagna,che viene spedita in punizione. La rete di bugie si fa più fitta quando l'amico Brandon (Dan Byrd), che in realtà è omosessuale, le chiede di fingere di appartarsi con lui durante una festa. Anche Todd (Penn Badgley), un ragazzo per cui Olive aveva una cotta, le chiede di mentire e la giovane accetta. Ben presto, tutti i ragazzi della scuola iniziano a pagarla per fingere di aver passato una notte di fuoco con lei e acquisire popolarità. Olive, completamente assorbita dalle sue bugie, accetta la situazione e adotta un vestiario provocante, cucendo sui suoi vestiti una lettera "A" scarlatta. Rhiannon si allontana dall'amica, che rimarrà completamente sola proprio quando la situazione diventerà catastrofica...
