Il film prende spunto dal romanzo La macchina del tempo (1895) di Herbert George Wells per elaborare una trama completamente originale. Il soggetto del film fu ispirato alla prima parte del romanzo in fase di scrittura Time After Time di Karl Alexander, che fu pubblicato più o meno nello stesso periodo della distribuzione del film.



The film takes its cue from the novel The Time Machine (1895) by Herbert George Wells to develop a completely original plot. The subject of the film was inspired by the first part of the pending novel Time After Time by Karl Alexander, which was published around the same time as the release of the film.

Lo scrittore H. G. Wells realizza alla fine dell'Ottocento una vera macchina del tempo. La macchina viene però utilizzata da un altolocato medico psicopatico, responsabile dei delitti di Jack lo squartatore, che la usa per fuggire nel futuro, sottraendosi così alla caccia di Scotland Yard.







It's 1893 London. Futurist H.G. Wells believes that the future holds a Utopian society. He also believes in time travel. He has just built a time machine which he is displaying to a group of skeptical friends, including surgeon Dr. John Leslie Stevenson. Unbeknown to Wells or anyone else among that circle, Stevenson is better known to the public as Jack the Ripper.
