Cohen con “The Stuff” lavora su due piani differenti: in uno omaggia classici come The Blob, L’invasione degli ultracorpi e La Cosa mentre dall’altro confeziona una feroce e divertita satira sul consumismo, il potere fascinatorio della pubblicità e il potenziale pericolo insito in ciò che arriva ogni giorno sulle nostre tavole e “abita” i nostri frigoriferi, alla stregua di ciò che successivamente narreranno con differenti digressioni il Society di Brian Yuzna, lo Street Trash di Jim Bruno e naturalmente Essi vivono di John Carpenter.

Cohen with "The Stuff" works on two different levels: in one he pays homage to classics such as The Blob, Invasion of the Body Snatchers and The Thing while on the other he packs a ferocious and amused satire on consumerism, the fascinating power of advertising and the potential danger inherent in what arrives on our tables every day and "inhabits" our refrigerators, in the same way as what Brian Yuzna's Society, Jim Bruno's Street Trash and of course John Carpenter's They Live will later narrate with different digressions.
