Tre Manifesti A Ebbing, Missouri segue le tragicomiche vicende di una madre in cerca di giustizia per la figlia, che ingaggia una lotta contro un disordinato branco di poliziotti pigri e incompetenti. Dopo mesi trascorsi senza passi in avanti nelle indagini sull'omicidio di sua figlia, Mildred Hayes (Frances McDormand) decide di prendere in mano la situazione e "rimbeccare" le indolenti forze dell'ordine. Sulla strada che porta in città, la madre furente noleggia tre grandi cartelloni pubblicitari sui quali piazza una serie di messaggi polemici e controversi, rivolti al capo della polizia William Willoughby (Woody Harrelson). Lo stimato sceriffo di Ebbing prova a far ragionare la donna, ma quando viene coinvolto anche il vice Dixon (Sam Rockwell), uomo immaturo dal temperamento violento e aggressivo, la campagna personale di Mildred si trasforma in una battaglia senza esclusione di colpi, calci, schiaffi, morsi, insulti e frasi scurrili.



Presentato in concorso alla settantaquattresima edizione della Mostra del Cinema di Venezia (dove si è aggiudicato il premio per la migliore sceneggiatura), al Festival di Toronto e al Festival di San Sebastian, Tre manifesti a Ebbing, Missouri, in uscita nei cinema in Italia il 18 gennaio 2018, è diretto da Martin McDonagh, rinomato autore teatrale di origini irlandesi approdato al cinema a metà degli anni Duemila e noto ai più per aver diretto In Bruges e 7 psicopatici.
