Set against the backdrop of a vast, unique and unforgiving landscape, Gold is a taut thriller about greed and the lengths people will go to secure themselves a fortune. Gold, film diretto da Anthony Hayes, racconta la storia di due uomini, due vagabondi (Anthony Hayes e Zac Efron), che viaggiano nel vasto deserto. Durante il loro cammino i due si imbattono in un'enorme pepita d'oro, la più grande mai rinvenuta. I due uomini pensano subito a quanto potrebbero guadagnare con quel pezzo d'oro e quale vita lussuosa potrebbero condurre.

Mentre uno dei due si mette in viaggio per cercare l'attrezzatura necessaria all'estrazione della pepita, l'altro resta a controllarla e ad aspettarlo. Quest'ultimo dovrà affrontare il rigido clima del deserto, cercando di difendersi non solo dai lupi, ma anche da altri intrusi. Mentre lotta per restare vivo nella sterminata distesa di sabbia, inizia a pensare di essere rimasto solo e abbandonato a un crudo destino
