Point Break, film diretto da Ericson Core, racconta la storia di Johnny Utah (Luke Bracey), giovane agente dell'FBI, incaricato di infiltrarsi in un gruppo di atleti, dipendenti dall'adrenalina, sospettati di una serie di rapine aziendali. A capo della banda c'è il carismatico Bodhi (Edgar Ramirez), che insieme agli altri ragazzi sta cercando di portare a termine l'Ozaki 8, una serie di sfide estreme che onorano le forze della natura.
Johnny deve sfruttare la sua passione per gli sport estremi per farsi ammettere nel gruppo ed essere così libero di indagare. Si reca quindi in Francia, dove gli atleti si stanno preparando per la quarta prova dell'Ozaki 8: sfruttare un raro fenomeno delle onde del mare per fare surf. Proprio tramite questo sport Johnny riesce ad avvicinarsi al gruppo e a farsi invitare alle loro feste, dove conosce Samsara (Teresa Palmer), dalla quale si sente fortemente attratto.
Dopo aver superato l'iniziazione, Johnny viene ammesso nella banda, ma riuscirà a portare a termine l'indagine senza farsi coinvolgere o far saltare la sua copertura?
