Siamo nel 1715, l’età dell’oro della pirateria nei Caraibi è al suo apice. Nella colonia di New Providence il Capitano Flint, un uomo tormentato da complesse e ambigue motivazioni, si allea con Eleanor Guthrie, la figlia del boss del contrabbando locale, che trasforma il bottino dei pirati in lauti profitti. Insieme hanno un piano per cacciare il tesoro del secolo. Contro di loro una serie di avversari: capitani rivali, il padre di Eleanor e soprattutto John Silver, un giovane marinaio reclutato nella ciurma di Flint, che in qualche modo riuscirà a minare costantemente l’agenda del suo capitano.
