Il dottor Christopher Duntsch è una stella nascente nella comunità medica di Dallas. Giovane, carismatico e apparentemente brillante, il dottor Duntsch sta avviando un fiorente studio di neurochirurgia quando tutto cambia improvvisamente: i pazienti che entrano nella sua sala operatoria per interventi alla colonna vertebrale - interventi complessi, ma di routine - rimangono permanentemente mutilati o muoiono. Con l’aumentare delle vittime due colleghi medici, il neurochirurgo Robert Henderson e il chirurgo vascolare Randall Kirby, decidono di fermarlo. Dr. Death esplora la mente contorta del dottor Duntsch e il fallimento di un sistema che dovrebbe proteggere i più indifesi.
