Mackenna's Gold is a 1969 US western film, directed by J. Lee Thompson, based on a novel by Will Henry.

The spectacular sequences of the film were mainly shot in Arizona, Oregon and Utah.

The original soundtrack and songs from the film were composed, arranged and directed by Quincy Jones. The opening song, "Old Turkey Buzzard", is a recurring theme. It is sung in English by José Feliciano.



José Feliciano also plays the guitar and adds the voice in "Viejo Butre", for the Spanish language edition of the film.



In the Italian version, the song “Vecchio vulture” is sung by Nico Fidenco.
