Tremors è un film diretto da Ron Underwood. Stanchi della monotona vita nella sperduta cittadina di Perfection in Nevada, i giovani Valentine McKee (Kevin Bacon) ed Earl Bassett (Fred Ward) decidono di partire per cercare fortuna altrove. Tuttavia, appena iniziato il loro viaggio, i due scoprono lungo la strada alcuni cadaveri, uccisi da misteriose creature provenienti dal sottosuolo.Valentine ed Earl decidono quindi di fare dietro front per avvertire gli altri abitanti dell’imminente pericolo. Sebbene i mostri - degli enormi vermi tentacolati - non posseggano una grande intelligenza, riescono a individuare con facilità le loro prede umane, anche se nascoste nelle automobili, le quali vengono inglobate sotto terra. Grazie all’aiuto di Rhonda Le Beck (Finn Carter), Valentine ed Earl riescono ad uccidere un Gabroid - così vengono chiamati i mostri del sottosuolo - ma altri tre vermi continuano a seminare terrore tra gli abitanti di Perfection. Dopo aver trovato rifugio sui tetti degli edifici, i superstiti assistono con orrore alla demolizione delle fondamenta dei palazzi da parte dei famelici Gabroid...
