Il Concorso, film diretto da Philippa Lowthorpe, è basato sui fatti accaduti durante il concorso di Miss Mondo del 1970, tenutosi a Londra e presentato dall'attore Bob Hope (Greg Kinnear). Un gruppo di donne esponenti del Women's Liberation Movement, capitanate dall'attivista Sally Alexander (Keira Knightley), ha interrotto la gara di bellezza, salendo sul palco, per protestare con tanto di cartelli e smuovere l'opinione pubblica. Un concorso tanto discusso e attaccato, che termina con una svolta storica, la vittoria di Miss Grenada, Jennifer Hosten (Gugu Mbatha-Raw), la prima vincitrice nera.
