(2017) STORYTELLERS

This is not a simple encode of a BD/DVD.This is a project i've been working on for some weeks. So there are three sources for STORYTELLERS: - MTV Broadcast. Source has bad audio quality and was recorded on progressive scan although the concert was broadcasted on 1080i, which means there is a lot of interlacing and framerate isn't correct. - DVD Version. Source is 480i, so quality is horrible, but it has the best audio from all three sources (PCM 16 bit). - SCANDAL Heaven's translation (Youtube). The only good thing about this one is the translation. The subs are hard to read, aspect ratio isn't correct, and both video and audio come from the mtv source. As you can see, all three sources have pros and cons, and there isn't a "best version". I wanted to have it on the best quality possible, so i figured i had to do it myself. What i had to do in order to get the best quality was: 1) Cut off all the commercials of the MTV broadcast, make a somewhat smooth transition between the parts and sync them to the DVD's audio track. 2) Encode the project on interlaced lossless to eliminate the interlacing later. 3) Recreate the SCANDAL Heaven's subs line by line on Aegisub. For this subs i had to time them again, as the SCANDAL HEAVEN's source has a longer duration than mine. 4) Encode the lossless project through Staxrip with my usual settings (x265, slow CRF 18 and QTGMC if the source is interlaced). 5) Make new chapter marks to the final encode. So what we ended up with is the best STORYTELLERS experience, which contains the best video and audio available along with english subs. If you didn't get bored and were able to go through this post, i hope you can enjoy this live perfomance, as it is one of the best SCANDAL ones in my opinion.
