in real HDR grading.



Processing done in Davinci Resolve 16 Studio

1. 1080 Bluray Upscaled to 4K using nnedi3_resize16() filter

2. Detail enhancing using proprietary DDR filter

3. Converted to professionnal DNxHR 4:4:2 format

4. Regraded in Davinci Resolve with an RCM base at 203 Nits to convert to HDR

203 Nits has been used so that white dont get crushed and turns greyish (This is a usual issue when rescaling color from SDR to HDR)

and Resolve's new version takes care of it genuinely.



Work in progress to re-grade the whole movie in HDR... and many more other movies to come.

Learning curve is steep for doing such processing but we are there now.

Stay tuned...



If the Bollywood media industry dont want to give us HDR then we will do it from what we have. 

Now we desi can enjoy HDR desi movie on our brand new expensive HDR 4K TVs.

This is what you shud get using MADVR on a normal 150~200 Nits SDR 4K Monitor.

But will be lots more vivid and colorful on a true HDR 4K TV or monitor.







Here is the Histrogram after regrading:

We can clearly see in the waveform and parade that the shadow are now near 0, which means the black are truely blavk (For SDR black are at 16 or 40 minimum)



The highlights are now near 640 nits compared to the max 150~200 nits of SDR ( in real they are rarely above 100 nits)
