Based on the autobiographical international best-seller by Henri Charrière, as well as a remake of the famous film directed in 1973 by Franklin J. Schaffner and written by Donald Trumbo, starring Steve McQueen and Dustin Hoffman, Papillon, directed by Michael Noer, follows the epic story of Henri "Papillon" Charrière (Charlie Hunnam), a burglar of the Parisian underworld who is framed for murder that he has not committed and condemned to serve his sentence in the notorious French penal colony on the Devil's Island.
