OPIS



W szpitalu Świętego Bonawentury w San Jose odbywa się nadzwyczajne zebranie zarządu. Szef chirurgii, doktor Andrews sprzeciwia się decyzji dyrektora Glassmana, który przyjął nowego rezydenta, doktora Shauna Murphy'ego, dotkniętego autyzmem i zespołem sawanta. Po przegranym przez Glassmana głosowaniu okazuje się, że Shaun na lotnisku ocalił życie chłopcu poranionemu odłamkami szkła i stał się bohaterem mediów. Młody doktor, który przyjechał do szpitala wraz z rannym chłopcem, upiera się, że trzeba mu zrobić echokardiogram. Zostaje jednak zignorowany i wyrzucony z budynku szpitala. Kiedy podczas operacji dochodzi do zaskakujących powikłań, chirurdzy postanawiają poprosić go o radę. Wkrótce zarząd wraca do sprawy zatrudnienia Shauna. Glassman stawia na szali swoje stanowisko. Przed powtórnym głosowaniem autystyczny lekarz ma szansę się wypowiedzieć.
