Osadzony w tych samych realiach co "The Walking Dead" serial "Fear the Walking Dead" to odważny obraz zagłady świata spowodowanej pojawieniem się zainfekowanych osób, widziany z perspektywy amerykańskiej rodziny. Akcja rozgrywa się w Los Angeles, do którego główni bohaterowie uciekli, aby pozbyć się dawnych problemów, ukryć najgłębsze sekrety i pogrzebać przeszłość. Stabilne i spokojne życie, które udało się wreszcie wspólnie stworzyć Madison Clark (Kim Dickens) - szkolnej pani pedagog oraz nauczycielowi angielskiego Travisowi Manawie (Cliff Curtis), zostanie wystawione na niejedną próbę. Codzienne trudności związane ze zbudowaniem więzi pomiędzy dwiema rozbitymi rodzinami, w połączeniu z próbami okiełznania przewrażliwionych, wycofanych i borykających się z uzależnieniami dzieci, zostają odsunięte na dalszy plan, kiedy świat dookoła staje w obliczu katastrofy.
