Dans un village de montagne isolé, le petit Tommy, 3 ans, disparaît pendant la nuit du carnaval. Son père, Manuel, est immédiatement suspecté ; Linda, sa mère est anéantie. Cinq ans plus tard, un jeune garçon est retrouvé...et les tests ADN sont formels : il s'agit de de Tommy. Pourtant, son comportement sème rapidement le doute chez ses parents : cet enfant est-il réellement le leur ? Manuel décide alors de mener sa propre enquête et de se replonger dans le passé.
