Basé sur les événements choquants et véridiques du 13 mars 1997, allusion aux lumières mystérieuses qui sont apparues dans le ciel de Phoenix, en Arizona. Ce phénomène sans précédent et inexplicable est plus connu sous le nom de "The Phoenix Lights", et reste l'observation d'OVNIS la plus célèbre et la plus largement vue dans l'histoire. Phoenix Forgotten raconte l'histoire de trois adolescents qui sont allés dans le désert peu après l'incident, dans l'espoir de documenter les événements étranges qui se produisent dans leur ville.
