Description

Lorsque Leon, un jeune gardien de prison blanc âgé de 19 ans, commet un acte dâune violence inexplicable â il assassine sauvagement sept hommes noirs â, lâissue de son procès semble courue dâavance. John Weber, un célèbre avocat dâorigine britannique, accepte lâaffaire à contrecÅur. Il découvre que Leon a travaillé dans le couloir de la mort de la prison la plus célèbre du pays, dans des conditions particulièrement traumatisantes : il y côtoyait les prisonniers pendant des années, il se liait dâamitié avec eux mais il devait ensuite assister à leur exécution. La défense de Leon donne alors à John lâoccasion de faire le procès de lâensemble du système juridique légalisant la peine de mort.
