In un laboratorio isolato e antiquato, completamente immerso nel proprio impegno di scienziato, il fisico Brundle attende ad una scoperta sensazionale: quella del teletrasporto della materia da un "telepod" (o teleguscio) all'altro. Intervistato un giorno ad un ricevimento di scienziati da Veronica Quaife (una giornalista che agisce per conto di Borans, suo ex-amante e direttore della Mono Publishing), Brundle conduce la donna nel suo ambiente di lavoro ed essa assiste stupefatta alla disintegrazione di una sua calza, immessa nel primo dei telegusci, per riaverla perfettamente ricostruita nel "telepod" numero due. Ma Brundle, ormai cosciente del valore della sua scoperta, decide ad un certo momento di tentare l'esperimento su se stesso. Per il che si introduce nel contenitore, uscendo poi, apparentemente integro, dal portello fumigante del secondo. Purtroppo, al momento della chiusura del portello numero uno (lo si vedrà nel filmato), una mosca che ronzava nel laboratorio è entrata nel "telepod", subendo anch'essa una mutazione, tanto imprevista quanto inevitabile...







In an isolated and antiquated laboratory, completely immersed in his commitment as a scientist, the physicist Brundle awaits a sensational discovery: that of the teleportation of matter from a "telepod" (or teleguscio) to another. Interviewed one day at a reception of scientists by Veronica Quaife (a journalist acting on behalf of Borans, her ex-lover and director of Mono Publishing), Brundle leads the woman into her working environment and she assists amazed at the disintegration of one of her stocking, placed in the first of the telegusci, to get it perfectly rebuilt in the "telepod" number two. But Brundle, now aware of the value of his discovery, decides at a certain moment to try the experiment on himself. For that it is introduced into the container, then emerging, apparently intact, from the fumigating door of the second. Unfortunately, at the time of closing the door number one (you will see it in the movie), a fly buzzing in the laboratory has entered the "telepod", also suffering a mutation, as unexpected as inevitable ...
