Il commissario Betti poliziotto della Questura romana, ha perso un fratello diciottenne che è stato colpito senza alcuna ragione da un delinquente nel corso di una rapina. Quando un episodio assai simile si ripete su di un autobus in Piazzale Flaminio, il Betti sguinzaglia gli agenti Biondi e De Rossi travestiti da straccioni e, forte delle informazioni che ottiene, individua delinquenti, li percuote a sangue e poi li consegna ad un meccanismo giudiziario e penale in cui non ha alcuna fiducia. Esonerato dall'incarico per eccesso di zelo, il commissario accetta l'invito di un certo avv. Sartori e diviene capo di una accolta di "vigilantes" i quali grazie alle conoscenze del mondo del crimine dell'ex poliziotto e in forza delle notizie che ancora gli pervengono dal fedele Biondi, menano strage di briganti nelle notti romane.




Police Commissioner Betti, a cop of the Roman Questura, lost an eighteen-year-old brother who was hit without any reason by a criminal during a robbery. When a very similar episode is repeated on a bus in Piazzale Flaminio, Betti snoops Blond and De Rossi agents dressed in straps and, strong in the information they get, locates delinquents, blows them with the blood and then hands them to a judicial mechanism and penalties in which he has no confidence. Exhaled from office for excess zeal, the commissioner accepts the invitation of a certain lawyer.
