Former CIA agent Bryan Mills reluctantly agrees to let his 17 year old

daughter Kim go to Paris on a trip. His ex-wife Lenore and her new husband

Stuart are all for it and Kim sets off with a friend. On arrival in Paris

however, Kim and her friend are kidnapped by mobsters running a slavery

prostitution ring. Bryan's only lead is a short snippet of a conversation

from when Kim phoned him in a panic. With that, he's able to identify the

origin of the speaker and which criminal gang he's with. Once in Paris, he

quickly shows everyone connected with the case that he will stop at nothing

to get his daughter back.

ex-wife Lenore, who has separated from her second husband, to spend a couple

of days in Istanbul where he is working. Meanwhile, the patriarch of the

community of the Albanian gang of human trafficking, Murad Krasniqi, seeks

revenge for the death of his son and organizes another gang to kidnap Bryan

and his family. Bryan and Lenore are abducted by the Albanians, but Kim

escapes and is the only hope that Bryan has to escape and save Lenore.

Bryan Mills, the former covert operative, tries to have a normal relationship

with his daughter, Kim. And he tries to help his ex-wife, Lenore who's on the

fence if she wants to remain married to her husband Stuart. Later he gets a

text from her telling him she needs to talk to him. When he gets to his

apartment he finds Lenore dead. The police arrive and were about to arrest

him but he gets away. An inspector who investigates, doesn't fully believe

Mills is guilty but decides to do things by the book and tries to find him

and bring him in. He talks to Kim and Stuart; Kim doesn't believe he killed

her mother while Stuart doesn't exactly say he's innocent. Bryan finds

evidence and then makes sure the inspector gets it. The inspector decides to

keep tabs on Kim. Mills turns to his friends to help him. He eventually

learns that Stuart might know more than he is saying.
