E' la sera dell'ultimo dell'anno e a bordo del transatlantico Poseidon, al largo del Nord Atlantico, sono iniziati i festeggiamenti. Il Poseidon è una delle navi da crociera più belle, con i suoi venti piani di altezza, 800 cabine e 13 ponti. Questa notte molti degli ospiti si sono dati appuntamento nella magnifica sala da ballo per festeggiare l'arrivo dell'anno nuovo. Brindano con coppe di champagne mentre il capitano Michael Bradford pronuncia un discorso e l'orchestra attacca una versione di Auld Lang Syne. Nel frattempo, sul ponte, il primo ufficiale intuisce che qualcosa non va. Esplorando l'orizzonte vede un'onda anomala, un mostruoso muro d'acqua alto un centinaio di metri che si sta avvicinando a una velocità pazzesca. Cerca di eseguire una manovra per evitare l'impatto, ma è troppo tardi, l'onda si abbatte sulla nave con una forza tremenda,colpendola sul fianco sinistro prima di farla capovolgere...





It is the last night of the year, and on the trans-Atlantic Poseidon, off the North Atlantic, festivities began. Poseidon is one of the finest cruise ships, with its twenty-story highs, 800 cabins and 13 bridges. Tonight many of the guests came to the magnificent ballroom to celebrate the arrival of the new year. Brindle with champagne cups while captain Michael Bradford pronounces a speech and the orchestra attacks a version of Auld Lang Syne. Meanwhile, on the bridge, the first officer understands that something is wrong. Exploring the horizon sees an abnormal wave, a monstrous 100-meter-high water wall that is approaching a crazy speed. Try to do a maneuver to avoid impact, but it's too late, the wave knocks on the ship with a tremendous force, hitting it on the left flank before flipping it over ...
